Punch Consulting is an independent consultancy with expertise in external affairs, communications, policy, strategy, and stakeholder engagement. Founded in June 2010, the consultancy has since provided expertise to organisations across the UK, Europe and Australia.
Director: Dr Alexis WillettAlexis is the founder of Punch Consulting. She has extensive experience of advising CEOs, Boards, and teams, and working collaboratively with diverse and high-level stakeholders across national and international projects to drive improvements in health and research. Prior to establishing the consultancy, Alexis worked in the non-profit and public sectors. Alexis gained her PhD in Biological Sciences from the University of Cambridge, and has a broad publication record. She also writes popular science books and articles and is an experienced media spokesperson.

Associate: Dr Liam Drew
Liam is a science writer and journalist, and former neurobiologist. He is a regular contributor to Nature Outlook, and has written for New Scientist, BBC Wildlife, Quanta, The Guardian, Aeon, How It Works and Slate. In 2017, Liam published his first book - I, Mammal: The Story of What Makes Us Mammals - with Bloomsbury, and in 2021, he published The Brain Book, an introduction to the brain for 5-9 year olds, for DK Publishing. Prior to writing, Liam spent 15 years working in academia. He got his PhD from University College London for studies of the molecular basis of touch and went on to post-doctoral positions at Columbia University, New York, and then UCL. Liam is the founding Director of the London subsidiary of NeuWrite, a network of working groups of scientists and writers interested in science writing and journalism.
Associate: Caroline Philpott
Caroline has around 20 years’ experience in developing and delivering public health campaigns and health promotion activities, with expertise in marketing, communications and partnerships. She's worked in private, public sector and non-profit organisations, including Forestry England, the NHS (National Health Service), the UK’s leading breast cancer charity, and Cancer Research UK (the world’s leading independent cancer research charity). Constantly at the forefront of public engagement, Caroline has designed and delivered everything from localised, community-based activities, and driving take up of stop smoking services, through to England’s national programme of cancer awareness campaigns alongside Public Health England, the Department of Health and NHS England. She also led public relations for a range of IT and telecommunications clients.
